Some reading sharing...

I had just finished a reading on an article from Reader's Digest of July 2009 edition. The title of the article was '5 Tips from the Obamas on Raising Children'. I am not a person who involved on politics nor supporting any of them. However, after I read this article about the '1st man' and his family, I am respecting him as a good father. Altough he had been the president of United States of America, the caring of the family especially his children hadn't been reduced. There are some parenting aspect that I am very agree on it. One of the most important issue is as parents must try to fully participate on children's growing life. Besides that, communication is very important in a family. Children likes to talk and share since they had a language to communicate with the parents. Be a good listener! Share ideas and opinion with your children. I remembered my mum shared with me that sharing life experience, values and ideas with own children before bedtime is the best timing. My mum used to shared stories with me and sister during bedtime when we were young at our double decker bed. That was the best memories of me and my sister.

There is another interesting part from the article that i had read was Obamas had settup new play set for his children with tyre swing and rope ladder outside the Oval Office of the White House. He do fully agreed on Dr Spinks Franklin, a paediatrician at Baylor College of Medicine in Taxes that 'The Kids have to use basic play skills like motor skills and pretending rather than only TV shows and video-game playing.'

Thats roughly about my sharing from my reading, for those that interested in details about the article can go for Reader's Digest of July 2009.

*Again that this is just a sharing from reading, none of any issue about politics*

Car Seat Safety

It is very popular to have a children's baby's car seat in a car when traveling and most of the parents are very alert on the safety issue on it. Lately I have been observing the children and infant that coming to the centre with car seat, I found that there are different way of setting the car seat in the car and I was wondering which is the best and safest way to use a car seat. After some researches that I had done from the internet, I found that there is a website that explains some important issue of children/infant's car seat. It seems to be a quite reliable source since its from the website of American Academy of Pediatrics. As a reason of the infomation in quite details and long, I am posting up the link directly.

For all the parents who is using a car seat for your children or infant, please do take sometime to read it up. I think its quite informative =)

Teacher Lotty and the creative art work~

Do you remember I had introduced one of the teacher in Sri Suria, Teacher Loty? She is a very nice teacher that full of patience and creativity. Yesterday afternoon I went up to the classroom to take some pictures of the children and teacher's work. I found that the art and craft work that they made are seriously creative! Although some of you all may say that it is imposible that the children of the age 2-4 can done these, neither do I. However all these works are done together by the children and teacher. The ideas of the work is created by the teacher, and it is the hardest part that the teacher have to plan how to let the children fully participate and as well they learn during the process of working on it.

Here are some pictures of the lessons being conducted and some final result from the children and teacher.

Teacher Loty introducing the project that the children are going to do. Can you guess what is the project about?

Yes! A cow! besides doing art and craft, the teacher as well introduce the name of the body part of a cow.

Semi-done project~

Final product! Absolutely look like a cow! Right? Do you know the name of the body part? There are some tags on it.

Here is another project that working on by Juaner. Do you know what is it?

Life cycle of a plant...from seeds to baby plants, then to an adult plant, coming with blossom and maturing. Can't see it? The children might know it!

Some other projects...
Octopus! Cute right?!

Bird on it's nest...

Life cycle of the frog...

A cat? Nope, its a tiger!

Some sharing from Nic...
Children are very interested on art and craft. A well planned art and craft project can let children of different age group learn different skills and knowledge of their own stage. In Sri Suria I request the teacher to plan project for a mixed age group of 2-4 years old. Some of them might ask, "How can a mixed age group children can learn in a same project?" Yes they do, but only with a good lesson plan. For example, during the project of cow, a child of age 2 might only learn simpler knowledge such as the name of the animal, cow; he as well can practice the skills of pasting and coloring. These are the skills to develop their fine motor skills(the skills and the strenght of fingers), it is very important for the future pencil grip. For a elder child, he can learn and practice more advance things in the project. For example, he can learn the name of the body part of the cow, he can learn the living habbits of the cow, or even he can learn how to spell and write the word of 'cow'. As a conclusion, a well planned project may let a group of mixed age children learn lots of things. If parents that have time may try on it. Its fun and meaningfull! But remember, try to use recycle materials =)

Bubbles...oo00OOO

Tuesday evening, while Edrien and Justin waiting for Daddy and Mummy, I brought them to have some fun with bubbles at the outdoor...

Edrien loves bubbles!!!

~Potty~

"Shall we start a toilet train with her?" Rachel's mummy said to me one morning when she sent Rachel to centre. Rachel is moving into 2 years old coming September. For me this is a right time to let her to have her toilet train.

During her toilet training period with us and the parents, she had sucessed within 2 weeks. At the begining we decided to let her take off her diapers imediately. For sure, she did wet herself for several times. However, after 1-2 weeks, she was able to do her 'business' in her cute little potty, just before she back to Taiwan for a holiday.

Well done Rachel!!!

Sharing from Nic
Usually toilet train is one of the request from parents that come for enquiry. During my studies on Diploma in Montessori, one of the theorist that I had studied was Freud. In his theory, he did mentioned that if toilet training wasn't deal properly in the early years, negative impact will accure in the later years. Such as characteristics that extremely tidy or extremely messy are the impact from the early years toilet train.

Fish~

Last few days, I been to Hartamas Shopping Centre for a lunch with my friend. While walking to the restaurant from the car park, I bought something for the fish tank in centre. Oh ya, I think for some of you didn't know that there is a small aquarium in Sri Suria. It took me sometimes to learn how to take fish as pets. It is not easy! Anyway, the most important thing is the children like it very much! Sometimes I will sit down and look at the fish swiming...just imagine, as an adult can be fascinated by it, how about the children?
